-What: This charming diner of the Republic of Singapore Flying Club is Seletar Base’s best-kept secret. Popular with locals and expats alike, it has a delightful al fresco area (complete with a children’s slide and swing) that boasts a bird’s eye view of the Seletar airfield. During the weekends, it’s the only place where people can be found in a truly secluded industrial area. Food is good — we recommended the chicken wings — although a tad pricey for a casual eatery. If your kids are hankering for air-conditioned comfort, there is an indoor dining area.

-Where: 140B Piccadilly, Seletar Base, East Camp. Tel: 6482 0244How to get there: From Piccadilly, drive into Lambeth Walk, follow the East Camp signs to Western Avenue, and then look for the 140B carpark (opposite the Singapore Flying College).

-When: 4pm-10pm daily. Closed on Tuesdays.
